Friday nights, 19.00-21.00
During term time, AYF will be open in Brodick church hall every Friday night between 19.00 and 21.00 with a mixture of activities, with all high school students welcome.
Whether it's football in the big hall - baking, smoothies or creating your own pizza in the kitchen - expressing your artistic side with clay modelling, painting, electric guitars or even just a go on Guitar Hero for the Wii - sharing a laugh with friends playing the Xbox 360 with Kinect, FIFA, Halo: Reach - film-making with our camcorder - chilling out with movies, music, sweets and much more - there should be something for everyone.
We are usually closed over October hols, Christmas etc.
Wednesday afternoons, 16.30-18.30
We have now launched a Wednesday afternoon film-making club. This will also take place in Brodick church hall, from 16.30-18.30 with burgers and snacks provided. The Auchrannie have very kindly offered a £50 cash prize to the team who create the best short film on the topic of 'Arran'. All high school pupils are welcome.
Future events
Over summer 2012, there will be football coaching events in Shiskine and tennis tournaments in Brodick, as well as the usual Friday night activities and trips to the mainland. Details will be posted here in the near future.
Past events
Over July and August 2011, AYF linked up with other groups on Arran and the mainland to provide a fun mix of trips and activities, including summer barbecues. There should be more of the same in 2012, so watch this space.
Other past events include a very successful football tournament in September 2011, where a Beith boys group visited us and played seven-a-sides against a team of Arran youngsters at the Ormidale pitches. We have also visited mainland groups for fun days out, including Ardrossan Youth Association, Saltcoats Youth Action Group and the Caley ICT & Music Centre, whilst also taking part in fun activities such as ten-pin bowling.
In December 2011, we hosted a very successful gig/disco in Brodick village hall in conjunction with the Lamlash group, as well as running a special sports and games night in the Auchrannie's fantastic sports hall.
