Grant competition - help needed!
Arran Youth Foundations are in with a chance to win a £6,000 grant, but they need the help of the island's people.
The charity, currently fundraising for a purpose-built youth centre in Brodick, have entered an online Royal Bank of Scotland competition where the group in each area with the most votes stand to win the money. As the only project from the island to enter, Youth Work Project Manager Graeme Johnston hopes they have a massive advantage - and he has valuable experience in drumming up votes!
"Raising funds in the current climate has obviously been a lot of work but we are finally getting somewhere. At this stage, £6,000 would be a fantastic help.
"I can't think of another project in the competition that has the sort of huge support we will have if the people of Arran rally behind us.
"I actually entered myself in an identical competition last summer to win an all-expenses paid trip to the World Cup Final in South Africa... And won. So hopefully with the same tactic of endlessly nagging family and friends into voting, we can win this one too!"
To register and then vote, go to http://communityforce.rbs.co.uk/project/184 before 23rd October 2011.
