Summer trips

Thanks to a grant very gratefully received from the Novum Trust, Arran Youth Foundations will be undertaking several trips to the mainland this summer, as well as jointly hosting two events with the Lamlash youth group.

Details are as follows:
Friday 15th July, 19.00-21.00 - BBQ, Music, Orienteering etc - AYF cabin, Brodick
Friday 29th July, day trip - Caley Youth Centre, Stevenston
Friday 5th August, day trip - Helter Skelter Youth Cafe, Largs
Friday 12th August, day trip - BBQ, Music, Orienteering etc - Youth cabins, Lamlash
Friday 16th September - 5-a-side football tournament, Stevenston

These are research trips that will allow the young people to see what activities are on offer in mainland groups and to get them thinking on various questions:
What would they like to see within AYF?
What should our new purpose-built centre be like?
Would they be willing to help with fundraising to achieve this new centre?
Would they some day like to be involved in a young person committee?

In February 2011 we visited the Ardrossan Youth Association to meet with the Saltcoats Youth Action Group and discuss their own fundraising efforts. In April 2011 we visited the Caley Youth Centre in Stevenston for a workshop on the types of activites they deliver, with the group taking part in music, DJing and photography sessions.

The summer trips promise to be just as fun so if you would like to come, pop down to the cabin on a Friday night to get a consent form from Graeme.
