Fundraising efforts are always ongoing.We are trying to increase the % of funds brought in by our young people and by the committee. To that end, young people are heavily involved in fundraising - both through their weekly Fundraising Group, and through annual fundraisers which they organise; which have included Strabane House open days, 24 hour movie marathons, presenting within Arran High School to win £3,000 through YPI, and many more events.
We now have a >JustGiving page, an Easyfundraising page, and donation tubs on shop counters around the island (special thanks to the Cooperative, the pharmacy, Hooked & Cooked, Wooley's, Blackwaterfoot post office, Calmac, Stagg's)
We have monthly donations from the local churches, Isle of Arran Cheese Shop, and from an individual who funds our guitar tuition project. We are very grateful for all of these regular contributions.
We have also been very fortunate to enjoy incredible generosity from many on the island over the years, including: David Hogg and Julia Harrison, who asked for donations at their wedding instead of gifts; likewise, Liam Blizzard-Anand and his partner Charly, who very kindly did the same; a collection at the funeral of Sinclair MacLeod; incredible support from the Lochranza Distillery, Corrie Hotel and Arran Mountain Festival; a memorial day for Tony McDowall, where his family very kindly collected funds for AYF; a collection at the funeral of Lady Jean Fforde, a huge supporter of the charity who allowed the young people to hold an open day each year in the gardens of Strabane House.
Many businesses around the island have been kind to us through the years, supporting us financially and through other means. We give particular thanks to the Auchrannie, who have done a great many things for AYF, not least allowing us to host our annual restaurant night.
